AHSMB 2012-13 Kick Off: Rehearsal and
Mandatory Parent Meeting Tuesday, May
29
Students should report for a 6 pm start of
rehearsal. Dress for the weather. Parents: the
meeting is in the Auditorium from 7:30-8:30 pm.
This is a mandatory parent meeting. We've
streamlined it to an hour -- it is IMPORTANT for
you to attend even if you've "been there" before.
Reminder for Mentors
If you are serving as a mentor family for a new
marcher family, remember to arrive 15 minutes
early for the Parent Meeting on Tuesday, to meet
and great your new families. Meet in the
Auditorium Lobby, on the bus circle side (east).

nationally known leadership expert who does
many events for Bands of America / Music for All,
DCI and many others. TABB and the Troy School
District are helping to subsidize this event.

Mr. McCoy expects all band students to attend, at
a MINIMUM, the General Session from 5:30-7 pm.
Then, from 7:30-9 pm, Fran will present a
Leadership Methods Session for those students
who are, want to be, or think of themselves as a
leader in any capacity (this Leadership Methods
Session is mandatory for Marching Band section
leaders and any Ensemble First Chairs).
Students should register using this form by
Tuesday, May 29. The form was also handed out in
band class.

The Marching Band staff has prepared this helpful
list of required equipment for each marching
member at EVERY rehearsal! Click the Rehearsal

the list.

Student Accounts Update
The Student Account balances have been
updated as of 5/21/2012. Please check your
account balance if you wish to use it toward your
first marching band payment. Please use the
Student Account Withdrawal Form whenever you
wish to apply money from your account to a band
payment. (Form is on the Student Accounts page)

Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills. We're also
looking for silent raffle donations, and corporate
sponsorships at various levels. Sponsor

ask your employer to sponsor! We know it's for a
GREAT cause. :)

2nd Ticket Order: DCI Field Trip for All
Athens Band Students (parents welcome,
too!)
We will be placing another order on June 2 for
tickets to the July 7 DCI trip. We still have some
room on the second bus, so if you didn't order the
first time around, get your order in now. It will be
a fun afternoon/evening field trip to Western
Michigan University's Waldo Stadium. Drum Corps
International events – considered "Marching
Music's Major League" – showcase amazing talents
of college and high school-age brass and
percussion musicians and guard members. The
cost is $30 per person, including a super ticket
and deluxe motor coach transportation to and

Marching Band E-Book Pre-Sale
Opportunity: 2 for 1! (May Make Your
"selling" Easier)
New this year -- take advantage of a pre-sale offer
for the 2013 Entertainment Books, and your
customers can get the 2012 book for free NOW
(most coupons expire Nov. 1, so they still have six
months left!). This incentive offer may make it
easier for you to sell your 3-book requirement.

track sales, you will need to know who you
sold books to in August when the books
arrive)

Pre-sale ends June 8, 2012
2012 books will be hand-delivered as soon as
payment is received by the TABB treasurer.
2013 books will be delivered in early August.
Entertainment Books will be $30 this year
(that makes having 2 for 1 pre-sale even
more appealing!).
Pre-sale is completely optional. However,
any pre-sales will count toward the 3-book
selling requirement and any sales incentives
offered in the fall (such as buy 5 books, get
one free, raffles, etc.) Questions? Contact

Detroit Symphony Orchestra - Soundcard
Program for Students
The DSO offers an all-access student pass called
Soundcard for students of all ages. With the
purchase of a Soundcard, students may attend all
DSO concerts and the Classical, Pops, and Jazz
Paradise Series for the remainder of the season
(June 17). The Soundcard Pass is only $25! If
students would like to purchase a Soundcard,
they may do so at www.dso.org/soundcard or by
calling the Box Office at 313-576-5111.
