RedHawk Spectacular

The Redhawk Spectacular on November 11 is an opportunity for the eighth graders
that will be attending Athens next year to perform at Athens and then witness our
Redhawk Marching Band’s fantastic performance!  For many eighth graders and
their parents, this is their first experience with our band.   We would like to give
them a big welcome by hosting an Afterglow Reception for them.

To make this nights a success, your help is needed. We would like to ask for
donations of pop and baked goods.  To attempt to make it easy for everyone:

If your name begins with A through M, please donate two dozen baked goods.
If your name begins with N through Z, please donate two 2 liter bottles of pop.

Please bring these items to the Athens’ Band Room during the day or
directly to the cafeteria the night of the concert.

Thanks to everyone for your support and donations.  Everyone always enjoys the
refreshments and social time after concerts, but on these two nights it is especially
important that we demonstrate our school and band spirit.

If you can help with setup, cleanup, serving or if you have any questions, please
contact Lucie Bower at 248-528-1728 or email at luciebower@comcast.net

Pit Crew

We are in need of at least 14 parents to get the band on the field at the
competitions as well as the home games. We need people to move the
podiums, props, and pit instruments from the trailers to the stadium, on to
the field for the show and then back to the trailers to be packed for the trip
home. Along with the gratitude and appreciation of the band, you will get
admission to the shows (State Finals are 1/2 price) and the chance to hang
    with some really super parents.

Please e-mail me or see me in the parking lot at practice.

Chaperones/Bus Snacks

Anyone interested in being a chaperone should reply to me
kamannette@wideopenwest.com with the  show/shows they would like to
    chaperone.

Chaperoning involves riding the bus to and from the competitions.  All but 2
of the chaperones (myself and Lucie Bower) who will stay with the band are
required to help out with the trailers, loading and unloading equipment,
assisting with PIT train on and off the field and props.  We are performing in
    the competitions listed below.

Novi High School ~ (Sept. 13)
24062 Taft Road, Novi, MI  48374
Lamphere High School  ~ (Sept. 20)
    610 W. 13 Mile Rd, Madison Hts., MI  48071

    Flint Atwood Stadium ~ (Oct.4)
    701 W 3rd Ave, Flint, MI 48503

Clarkston High School ~ (Oct. 18)

Lakeland High School ~ (Oct. 25)
1630 Bogie Lake Road, White Lake, MI 48383

In order to qualify for the possibility of chaperoning the State Finals and/or
the Thanksgiving Day parade you must work 2 competitions.  Unfortunately
we are limited to the number of people allowed on Ford Field and the
    Thanksgiving Day Parade.

We are requesting each family to donate one case  of 12 oz bottled water to
    be used at the competitions.

This year we are suggesting each student to bring a snack and drink, for the
    bus trip home.

    Thank You
    Dennis & Kimberly Mannette

Parents are an integral part of the marching band. While we don’t actually march
or instruct, we do many other things that are important to the band’s success. The
purpose of TABB is to provide what is needed so our band programs are among the
best in the state. We want to organize our parent’s energy and use it effectively.
The focus of our organization is always on the kids.  There are many opportunities
to support the Troy Athens Marching Band:

  • Join TABB
  • Attend TABB meetings the first Tuesday of each month
  • Chair or work at a fundraiser (Citrus Sale, Candy Sale, Entertainment
Books, Raffles, Car Wash, Bottle and Can Drive, Gift Wrapping)
  • Chair or work at an event (Hospitality, MSBOA Festival, WGI Regional,
Euchre Tournament, Senior Events, Jazz Band Dinner Dance)
  • Set up the water jugs before practices, or put them away at the end
  • Be a chaperone on competition days, trips or at band camp
  • Bake snacks for the bus rides
  • Work with the pit crew at competitions
  • Be a bleacher creature at competitions and football games and cheer for the
    band
  • Help construct Props for competitions
  • And more . . . (Announcer, PA System, Trailers, Generator)
