Athens High School Bands
Course Information

P. Jefferson McCoy, Director of Bands

The Troy Athens High School award-winning bands enjoy a rich tradition of quality musicianship and excellence. The Athens ensembles have won many
awards and honors including consistent First Division ratings at Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District and State Band Festivals. They
have participated in events throughout Michigan and the United States including marching in America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and performing for the
astronauts aboard the International Space Station via NASA DOWNLINK. The Athens HS Red Hawk Marching Band has performed regularly in the state
marching band championship for four decades! This includes consistent ranking in the top 10 and finishing as high as 3rd Place (twice)! Field trips,
special clinics with professional musicians and performances by visiting artists further enrich Athens students’ musical experience.
Symphony Band

Symphony Band performs at the Holiday Concert, Pre-Festival Concert,
MSBOA Band Festival, Spring Concert and All-City Concerts. Selected

Athens Symphony Orchestra, providing a full orchestra musical
